How to Split the Cost of Expensive Wedding Registry Items

split_cost_simple-adder.pngOne of the great advantages to a cash registry like SimpleRegistry is the ability to register for large or expensive items.

Our members love being able to add items like local artwork, custom made furniture, skydiving experiences, or even a new pet! These are typically registry items that many guests would not be able to purchase on their own, but would love to contribute toward them -- especially when couples divide the cost to make them more manageable.

Some couples simply split the cost of their gift into equal parts, but with a little creativity, you can make it even more fun for friends and family to contribute to part of an expensive item. Check out these examples:

*For an annual gym membership to a top-notch facility like Equinox, you could break the cost up into 12 parts and list the gift as "One Month of Gym Membership."

*If you registered for a Classic 10-piece Knife Set by Wusthof for $400, you could split the total amount into 10 parts, mark the gift as "One Knife of the 10-piece Classic Set", and then list each gift at $40.

*For custom made kitchen chairs, you could list each chair as a separate gift. For example, you'd enter "One Lowback Dining Chair by Kinion" with four items needed at $75 each. If you need five chairs, create a separate registry listing for each chair.

When you add an item to your registry with SimpleAdder, you will see a small circle with a fraction and an arrow in the left corner of the window. Click that circle and choose how many parts you would like to split the cost and SimpleAdder will do all the math for you!

Since cash wedding registries like SimpleRegistry are extremely flexible, you can list your gifts any way you'd like. However, I always recommend to register for gifts of many different price ranges. This way, every single guest will be able to purchase a gift that is within their budget. By splitting the cost of large registry items, you can really help all of your guests find the perfect gift to give.
