Q: What if a guest ends up purchasing a registry item elsewhere, like a physical store?

A: If your registry page is set up to accept the cash/check payment option, guests can complete the checkout process for free and the registry will be updated. They'll just need to click on the "Dollar Bill" payment icon at checkout.

At some later time (such as the shower or wedding) the gift giver can present the couple with the item(s).

If the couple hasn't activated the cash/check payment option, guests can always contact them (or a close friend or family member) to let them know they should update the registry to reflect your purchase.

Meanwhile, members can easily enable this setting by visiting the "Gift Types & Fees" section of their SimpleRegistry account.
