A recent study conducted by Xin Wang, an assistant professor of marketing at the Brandeis International Business School, examined the behavior of gift givers in relation to online wedding registries. The research revealed a slew of interesting findings, including: the top selling and worst selling gift categories, what has the biggest impact on gift givers when choosing a wedding gift, and stores that have the highest fulfillment rates, plus a variety of key registry tips for couples.

Highlights from the study include:

*Wedding guests have two clashing motivations when choosing a wedding gift: a desire for social benefit and a desire to limit monetary costs.

*To maximize the chance that gifts are purchased, couples must pay attention to three primary things: where they register, average gift amount, and attractive product categories.

*Avoid registering for too high and too low priced gift items.
